Elis Alves (pronounces Elise) is a photographer and artist currently residing in Curitiba, Southern Brazil.
She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology by the Federal University of ParanĂ¡. She left Brazil right after graduation and spent the next 11 years working with an NGO in places as different as Swizterland, Rwanda, Senegal, Kenya, Cambodia and United States to name a few.
It was only after all this time she realized she had always been an artist. With everything she learned in her years abroad she returned to Brazil and, after assisting a photographer for a while, opened her own business and started to shoot. Coinciding with the beginning of her photographic career she launched a personal photography project named 365. She liked it so much she started more projects to satisfy her creativity.
She’s currently in her third project titled “Visual 56” which combines photography and arts with her love of literature.
